QA Level 3 - First Response Emergency Care RQF

Course Overview.

This Ofqual regulated pre-hospital care qualification is ideal for those who have a specific responsibility to respond to emergency situations. The qualification is approved by Qualsafe Awards - the UK’s largest Awarding Organisation for first aid qualifications, and is clinically endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC).

The Level 3 Certificate meets the FPHC criteria for descriptor ‘D’ provider on the PHEM Skills Framework.

The life saving skills taught are particularly suited to security staff, medical response teams, fire and police officers, industrial first aiders, healthcare providers and community responders.

Course Outline:

•    Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

•    Child and Infant BLS

The Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC®) is accepted as covering all learning outcomes and assessment criteria contained within the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work qualification. As such this qualification exceeds the HSE’s standard requirements for those acting as a workplace first aider and also covers a number of additional training needs that are often identified in ‘higher risk’ working environments.

Assessment and Requalification.

Learners will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the FREC® course, with successful candidates receiving a QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) certificate. This is valid for a period of 3 years and can be renewed by attending a 3 day FREC® requalification course.

Entry Requirements.

All Learners must be at least 17 years old and possess reasonable numeracy and literacy skills. Having existing basic first aid knowledge is also recommended (e.g. previous attendance on a First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid course).

Recognition of Prior Learning.

Learners who have gained a Level 2 First Person On Scene (Intermediate) qualification within the last 3 years may be able to attend a shorter course. Email us with your current qualifications and we can look at suitable options on an individual basis.

Refresher Training.

In line with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidance, it is strongly recommended that first responders undertake annual refresher training that includes Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation.
